Laser Tattoo Removal Using Q-Switch ND:YAG Laser.

Tattoo removal is most commonly performed using lasers that break down the ink particles in the tattoo. The broken-down ink is then absorbed by the body’s white blood cells, then passed through the lymphatic system. Mimicking the natural fading that time or sun exposure would create. During the treatment process, the laser beam passes harmlessly through the skin, the tattoo will be temporarily whitened and after a few minutes the original colour will return. The fading occurs gradually over the 7–8 week healing period between treatments.

This treatment is only suitable for clients with Fitzpatrick skin types 1-3. If you are unsure if you are a suitable candidate, we are happy for you to send us a photo of your tattoo in a well lit room.

 

The Q-switched lasers are said by the National Institutes of Health to result in scarring only rarely. Post-treatment expectations may (or rarely) include some or more of these symptoms:

Days 1 and 2 - Mild pain, swelling, bruising, bleeding, blistering, redness.

Day 3+ - Bruising, itching, scabbing, dryness, blistering, redness

 

We recommend the use of a topical anaesthetic. This can be supplied by our local chemist and applied 20 - 60 minutes prior to treatment.
